I have some choice words for Nissan’s anti-lock brake actuator pump. And yes, I realize that is an odd thing to say, but hear me out. The pump leaks brake fluid onto internal circuit boards which starts fires. And it’s been a problem more than once. The pumps were first recalled back in 2016. However the seals used to “fix” the leak have failed and now the pumps have been recalled again.

Nissan is even worried enough to ask owners of the 2015-2017 Murano, 2016-2017 Maxima, 2017-2018 Pathfinder and the 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles to park their cars outside and away from things you wouldn’t like to see turned to ash.

Maybe I should direct my choice words at Nissan instead.

That app, however, wasn't available for over a year. It wasn't all sunshine and puppies, though. The Zingerman case – which was grouped with another case as part of the settlement – wasn't granted class-action certification by the judge, because owners couldn't prove InTouch was why they bought the car.

Nissan is offering owners payments of $30, plus an additional $55 if they downloaded the app before April 17, 2017. Alternatively, owners can skip the cash payment and get a $500 credit towards a new Infiniti. The deals are valid until March 2019.

The app isn't the only complaint about InTouch.

He had them replaced, only to have them wear down and warp again in four months. Either he's using grocery runs as an excuse to practice for the INDY 500, or there's something else going on here.

"The Q50 lawsuit alleges Nissan/Infiniti knows the braking system is defective but conceals that fact so the automaker can keep selling the cars. Mr. Brand also says to keep from repairing the brake problems under warranty, the automaker tells its dealers to make changes to the cars that do nothing to fix them."

The lawsuit thinks alleges there's not enough heat dispersion, causing the brake pads to wear down unusually early.

The JX35, Q50, QX60, and G27 are all named in a lawsuit against Infiniti's parent company, Nissan, for an allegedly defective Occupant Classification System (OCS). Plaintiff Matthew Senci filed the proposed class-action lawsuit that alleges the vehicles have occupant classification system software that can incorrectly classify a front passenger seat as empty when it's occupied by an adult passenger. The error can cause the airbag to deactivate and fail to deploy in a crash.

Complaints and warranty claims led to the first OCS recall in March 2013, but it was limited to only 83,000 vehicles.
The lawsuit, Matthew Senci v. Nissan North America, Inc., accuses the automaker of being deceptive and selling vehicles with known defects.

Heads up, EX35 owners! If your steering feels loose, just wait until you come to a stop and the steering column separates entirely. According to Nissan, a manufacturing problem with the outer tube in the steering column is responsible for a recall of 17,000 vehicles. In the words of the automaker, the outer tube might have been manufactured 'out-of-round.'
This seems to be a response to last year's EX35 investigation for loose steering. The recall includes the 2008 Infiniti EX35, 2009 Nissan GT-R and the 2009 Infiniti FX35/FX45.

The defective sensor is part of the Occupant Classification System (OCS) that determines if there's an adult, or child, in the passenger seat. When there's an adult, the airbag is supposed to get activated – except it's not working.

"Nissan says a combination of factors could cause the problem, such as high engine vibration at idle when the seat is initially empty and then becomes occupied. Even the posture of the passenger could cause the air bag to deactivate."

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says there are over 3 million vehicles with airbag inflators that explode, sending metal shrapnel into the cabin during an airbag deployment. While Honda is recalling the most, Nissan (and Infiniti) have recalled over 480,000 vehicles worldwide. That includes the 2001-2003 Infiniti i35 and QX4.

"Takata said the propellant wafers produced at a plant in Moses Lake, Washington, between April 13, 2000 and September 11, 2002, may have been produced with an inadequate compaction force. The propellant could deteriorate over time and cause too much combustion, which could cause the body of the inflator to rupture during air bag deployment."

Vehicles in more humid areas are particularly susceptible to the exploding inflators.

It's been a rough few months for the JX35. It's been investigated for sudden stops, then it was recalled for a bad gas gauge, and now the 2013 model year's faulty passenger airbag sensor is getting recalled too. Nissan says sensors within the passenger occupant detection system may have been manufactured out of specification which could cause the air bag to be suppressed permanently.

The recall also includes Nissan vehicles and is expected to begin in April 2013.

The JX35 might spark a few front-seat arguments when it runs out of gas, even though the gas gauge says there's plenty left. Nissan (parent company of Infiniti) says certain 2013 models have fuel transfer tubes that were incorrectly routed. The end result? The fuel level float might not sink as fuel is used up, leading to the incorrect reading. The affected vehicles were manufactured from February 15, 2012, through June 22, 2012.

The recall will fix the issue by re-routing the tube and installing an o-ring, no guarantees it will fix your relationship though.
